CREATIVITY DURING COVID

Monies helped us move from in-person gatherings to being online

"Because our annual camp retreat is a significant event that helps us reach out to new students, we directed our time and resources into reaching out to new and returning students through paid social media advertising.  In addition to our weekly online worship gathering, we hosted two weekly lunchtime hangouts for new students to connect, two weekly online prayer gatherings, and just launched 4 online Bible study groups.  Even though we weren't able to reach students on-campus, we have been reaching new students through these adapted online gatherings."  -James Perreaux, UCM

OUTREACH IN OLIVER

Safe and innovative family programs

"The grant provided to us by OPCS allowed us to invest in items like a propane fire pit, the supplies to build a community Gaga ball pit, meal items and other various game activities to reach families and young people in a Covid19-safe and varied fashion.  From week to week, we were able top use these items and others to host events and gatherings that encouraged physical distancing while fostering social reconnecting; a need that has been so prevalent in Oliver this season."  -Next Gen Events Coordinator, Park Drive Church

FLOOD, FOSSILS, DINOSAURS, OH MY!

Exploring God's creation in fun ways

"The four years of science camps were developed by a team in Kamloops.  They are now almost completely written up with instructuns to allow anyone who would like to use the material to present camps in their area.  It takes some dedication and a team effort, but the impact on the children's future faith in the Bible is well worth it."  -Sandra Chueng, Creation Discovery Science Camp

VBS IN BARRIER, BC

We held it August 19 - 23 it was a smaller turn out with 15 to 20 kids but none the less it was enjoyed by all and a few of the kid's gave their hearts to Jesus.  As said in our application that we were bringing the Metro Kids in from Surrey to run it for us.  They are an awesome group of kids, these kids have been mentored and trained to go out and evangelize.  They with there leader Mike Brownlee did a great job.  We were able to give the Metro Kids a donation of 750.00 plus fuel and meals for the week with the funds you gave us.  The kids we had come to participate in VBS had a great time and went home with scriptures memorized and stories about Jesus and his greatness.  The theme  was the 10 commandments.  We also had some older kids that had attended VBS here in the past come and help with the younger ones.  So we are able to mentor these older ones to be leaders as well.  Thanks again for your generosity!"  -Crystal Hartfield

FAMILY CAMP AT CRAZY CREEK

"As you all know, this year we moved our Family Camp to Crazy Creek Hot Pools, where they gave us half the camp to set up big tents for services, a huge meeting room for the kids ministry and evening coffee and games, and places for volleyball, 9Square, and the big pig roast.  We had nasty rain weather but we also had more kids than ever!" -Cliff Siebert, The Landing Church
